The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge encompasses an area of about 10,000 hectares near the border with Nicaragua. The wildlife in this area is truly spectacular, especially the birds! It’s one of the few places in Costa Rica where you can catch a glimpse of the exotic Jabiru Stork, the tallest flying bird found in Central and South America. You will get the opportunity to likely see wood storks, cormorants, and other varieties of birds — this is a must-do tour for avid birdwatchers! Plus, everyone loves to spot the sloths, howler monkeys, and caimans (like mini-crocodiles) that inhabit this lush area.
Join us in this unique adventure on the peaceful waters of Frio River. Departure from La Fortuna to drive about 1,5 hours on a path surrounded by plantain, yucca, papaya and other crops to meet at El Caiman Restaurant, where we expect a delicious snack. After that we continue our exploring through this beautiful place on board by raft, going down on the river of rain forest, without any noise and driven by an electric motor with latest technology, we will sail around 2,5 hours, then go back to El Caiman restaurant, where a delicious typical lunch will be waiting for us.
